This is the zone where are located those diverse services shared by the clients (shared-Web, mail, search engine, LDAP, streaming, Radius).

Web/ FTP shared service

It is a matter of a virtual hosting service implemented according to InterHost's philosophy of "high availability". This service is designed for small sites that do not require great complexity.

The Web service is based on ZEUS software, and is installed in two front-end servers. Contents' updating is done by FTP protocols by means of installing proFTPD software and Microsoft's FrontPage.

The client's Web contents are lodged in the NFS server.

Mail Service

With this service we offer e-mail accounts type: POP3, POP3/SSL, IMAP, SMTP, SMTP authenticated and WebMail.

Search Engine Service

This service allowes to include in the customer's Web, the typical "search engine" button, to establish and schedule some indexation routines and so the system automatically indexes in an internal data base, the specified Web contents. The client doen' t have to build a private search engine for his contents.

Streaming service

There are two streaming servers arranged. Those are COMPAQ DL360 servers with Intel Pentium III/ 866 MHz or 1 GHz RAM processors, and with 1 GB of RAM. One of these servers runs Microsoft Media Services, and the other one carries QuickTime Server, one backingup the other (if one server falls, the other assumes the total load). The streaming servers access the rear network (backend) data files. The zone where the streaming servers are located is protected by a pair of firewalls.

DNS Service

Technology:

LDAP (Master and slave) service

InterHost's internal provisioning system.
